Maternal Health
At NACC, our Maternal Child Health team provides dedicated prenatal care in a family practice setting. Our focused team is dedicated to reducing the large healthcare disparity affecting Native Americans in prenatal and infant care in Minnesota. Through an integrated approach, families can receive coordinated prenatal care at NACC, addressing their medical, spiritual, social, and recovery needs through the pregnancy period and beyond. Our Maternal Medical team comprises medical doctors and nurses with extensive training in prenatal care.
Services Overview
Traditional birthing practices and culture are important in our communities through teachings, storytelling, and ceremony. Our Maternal Child Program unites this message with the help of our Maternal Health Spiritual care coordinator and on-site Ninde Doula program.
Our community approach to this important time is further supported by parenting groups for mothers, collaboration with community partners, and our site-based Parental Advocate. We are honored to walk alongside families as they grow.
Meet Our Team
Jackie Perez Mexica and Dine (Navajo)
As a Traditional Medicine Weaver, I serve as a doula, offering loving support and sacred prayer to guide mothers through every stage of childbirth and motherhood. My work is rooted in ensuring each mother feels empowered, nurtured, and surrounded by the strength of ancestral wisdom, leading them toward their unique birthing experience. As a Mother, Mentor, Traditional Mexica Aztec Dancer, Artist, and Birth Justice Advocate, my passion for birth work comes not only from my own birth experiences but from a deep commitment to supporting others on their journey. Inspired by my ancestors, I honor the sacred act of birthing as our first ceremony. I look forward to connecting with you on this sacred, ceremonial journey of birth and healing.
