Laurie App is a Mental Health Practitioner, and a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor experienced in the treatment of individuals with chemical and mental health disorders. She earned her M.A. in Counseling and Psychological Services at St. Mary’s University of Minnesota in 2020; her B.S. in Alcohol and Drug Counseling was from Metropolitan State University, St. Paul, Minnesota. She has certification in motivational interviewing, training in crisis intervention, suicide prevention, and extensive experience working with correctional facility populations.
Laurie’s approach to counseling is client-centered, strengths based, and draws from her skill working with diverse communities; emphasizing sensitivity to multicultural issues of race, ethnicity, gender and sexuality.
Her practical experience with chemical health clients includes intensive outpatient treatment work, alcohol and drug counseling, harm reduction, and co-occurring disorders.
In her free time Laurie is a supporter of the theatrical arts, enjoys DIY home projects, and lavishes time on her two dogs.
