Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Registered Nurse

SUMMARY: This position is primarily responsible for providing patient care and care coordination for adults with opioid-use disorder receiving medication assisted treatment (MAT). Care coordination of opioid-dependent patients comprises at least 75% of the job function. Managing other projects and/or assisting with other clinic nursing duties may be required. This position reports to the Nursing Supervisor.

 NURSING FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for tracking, coordination, and case managing patients enrolled in the clinic Medication Assisted Treatment program

  • Screen and assess patients for substance use and common mental health disorders

  • Attend regular caseload consultations with Medical Director, nursing care coordinator(s), behavioral health team, and social services team

  • Manage and communicate abnormal labs and other orders as directed by MAT provider

  • Manage prescription refills and insurance prior authorization requests using standing orders and provider direction

  • Complete accurate and thorough documentation of MAT patient interactions in a timely manner

  • Manage own schedule to see patients for nurse-led MAT visits

  • Work with Quality Improvement Officer to carry out projects as they relate to the MAT nursing team.

  • Responsible for performance improvement and reporting related to nursing functions, including MAT program indicators

  • Participate in work groups as requested

  • Other related duties requested by Nursing Supervisor or Medical Director

 TRAINING AND EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (B.S.N.) from a four-year college or university and public health nurse (PHN) registration for the State of Minnesota, preferred.

  • Two years of experience in providing nursing care coordination, experience in opioid-dependence preferred.

  • Experience working with chemically-dependent adults and knowledge of harm reduction principles, preferred
